If you've seen one netbook, you've them all, minus a slight variation here and there, and that includes the internal specs. So if a company goes off the beaten path and releases something a little bit 'different,' they should be applauded, right? Decide for yourself.

At $3,000, Smartbook AG's Swarovski-laden Zenid GC Crystal netbook is as expensive as it is horrific. That is, unless you're into the whole 'plaster my netbook with Swarovski crystals' look, in which we'd have to ask, 'Why?'

Inside the 10.2-inch netbook sits an above average assortment of parts, including a slightly higher end Intel Atom N280 (1.66GHz) and 2GB of DDR2 RAM. Not bad, considering most 10-inch netbooks come standard with an Intel Atom N270 and just 1GB of memory. It also comes with a 320GB hard drive, which is twice as capacious as most netbooks in this size range.

If the crystal decor just doesn't do it for you, Smartbook AG also sells a non-pimped version for 299 euros, or about $450 USD. Still pricey, and the non-crystalized version sports a more pedestrian spec sheet.
